f2a is based on the north shore of Kootenay Lake, outside Nelson, BC. The studio sits at the bottom of a steep, forested slope above the water. That location is not incidental — it shapes how we think about sites, materials, and what buildings owe the land they occupy.
From here we work across the West Kootenays, the Okanagan, Revelstoke, and Vancouver. The map above shows where projects have taken us further: a mass timber office building for structural engineers Fast + Epp in Vancouver, a boarding school built from site-cut glulam in the foothills of the Himalayas, a stainless steel art gallery pinned to bedrock above the Naramata hills, an earth brick bell tower raised with the people of Lapara in Burkina Faso. The approach in each place was the same: start with what is there.
