this project is a collaboration with the owner of One Boardshop | Premium Label to develop a cohesive retail design language across three locations in British Columbia. The Abbotsford space presented an opportunity to rethink the traditional retail experience and integrate the dynamic movement culture at the core of skateboarding and snowboarding.

Drawing on principal Austin Hawkins’ longstanding connection to skateboarding and his hands-on experience building mini-ramps from salvaged wood, the concept translates skate features into a functional retail environment. Within the expansive, warehouse-style shell, sculptural fixtures inspired by ramps, quarter-pipes, rails, and flow lines suggest a “hypothetical course” threading through the space.

These elements function as display structures, spatial dividers, and playful prompts to imagine motion. The concept celebrates the improvisational spirit of board culture while proposing a flexible retail layout adaptable to evolving product lines. By translating the architectural language of skate terrain into the store, the design explores the creation of a memorable, energetic environment that stands apart from conventional boardshop layouts.

Note: This design remains conceptual and has not been implemented in the actual store.
