orchard modhouse, naramata, bc

we streamlined this maurer-house glulam frame system design in order to meet a tight budget. The design makes use of consistent topography, orients the building just east of the south to make use of controllable southern winter gains. Generous overhangs provide shading and a greenhouse links house and guesthouse while providing an air-purification mechanism for the master bedroom.

this design gave rise to our modhouse 3 and modhouse 5 typologies, here linked by a greenhouse connector.
