We're looking for a driven and creative Intern Architect (AIBC) to join our small but dynamic architecture practice. If you’re self-directed, practical, hardworking, ambitious, and care deeply about both the quality of your work and its impact, we’d love to hear from you. around here, good ideas get built no matter who’s they are, both in projects across the province and in our own construction work here on Nelson’s North Shore.

f2a architecture + construction offers architecture, interior design, landscape design, and construction services. We focus on making direct improvements to the human environment while mitigating environmental impact.

Our work is detailed, technically precise, and often makes use of unconventional solutions. Projects include renovations of single-family homes, multi-unit housing, community buildings, and houses for simple living. We prioritize effective space design, simple structural systems, and common, locally available materials used in innovative ways.

what you can expect:

  • Hands-on Experience Across Project Phases
    Work directly with the principal architect on diverse projects, from custom homes to commercial and civic spaces. Because we are a design-build firm, you’ll gain a practical understanding of what it actually takes to bring a project from idea to completion, and real skills to go with it.

    grow into the responsibility required of an architect in a supportive environment. We support intern architects through AIBC’s IAP and collaborate with architects to achieve exceptional work.

    Both our site and studio team work closely together. like in a mountaineering crew, trust communication, and a collective mindset are essential. Everyone helps each other out. Our studio environment is focused, but also casual and friendly.

    Our studio sits on Kootenay Lake’s north shore, beneath the kokanee range. Simply step out the door for year-round access to skiing, biking, paddling, swimming, and hiking. We’re a 20 min, scenic drive from downtown Nelson which boasts a thriving and eclectic arts and culture scene not often found in small towns.

Requirements

  • a master’s or technologists diploma

  • minimum 1-year experience working in an architecture firm

  • be registered with the aibc or be eligible for registration

  • be proficient with BIM software such as Bricscad, ArchiCAD, or Revit

  • experience assembling construction documents

  • general knowledge of the BC building code

  • experience with building information modelling

  • some practical construction experience

  • show inspiration in schematic design

  • shop drawing production experience a benefit
